County Championship 2025, updated Division 1 standings
Lyndon James's double century (203*) was the highlight as Nottinghamshire drew with Hampshire, even as India's Tilak Varma continued his stellar run of form. Essex's Jordan Cox followed up his recent Blast century with another one against Sussex, before Matt Critchley's four-wicket haul bowled them to an innings win in Hove. For the losing side, 21-year-old James Coles scored 52 & 108.
Surrey and Yorkshire, at opposite ends of the table, played out a high-scoring draw even as Dom Bess took 7-162 in the third innings. Edgbaston saw two internationals, Khurram Shahzad and Beau Webster, stand out as Warcs chased down 393 on the final day in a pulsating finish.
At Taunton, Somerset's victory over Durham inside two days was overshadowed by harsh criticism of the wicket, most notably from Ian Botham. Craig Overton was the star performer, with 6-23 in 10 overs in the first innings.
