Pakistan Test skipper Shan Masood scored a century in his first County Championship innings for Leicestershire on Wednesday (September 10).
Shan Masood tons up on Leicestershire first-class debut
Upon the resumption of the County Championship on Monday (September 8), Leicestershire hosted Gloucestershire at Grace Road. The visitors elected to bat first, and made 482 as they were bowled out on day two. Graeme van Buuren starred with a century, while there were fifties for Ben Charlesworth (74), Miles Hammond (50), James Bracey (69) and Zaman Akhter (64).

By stumps on day two, Leicestershire had made good progress, reaching 270-4. Lewis Hill made 88, and Shan Masood was unbeaten on 80. The pair had put on 152 for the fourth wicket.
Early on day three, Masood tapped van Buuren into the off side to bring up a well-compiled century off 150 balls. It was his 30th in first-class cricket, and his first for Leicestershire in the format, in his first appearance for the club in red-ball cricket. He was eventually dismissed for 111, trapped lbw by Oliver Price.
The Leicestershire lower order then put up little resistance, as they slid from 320-4 to 342 all out to concede a 140-run first-innings lead. Matt Taylor was the destroyer-in-chief, with 5-70. They are currently top of Division Two, and will be eyeing promotion come the end of the season.
Masood played eight One-Day Cup matches this season for the Foxes, scoring a century (103) against Essex, and adding three half-centuries against Notts, Hampshire and Worcestershire. He also appeared in 13 T20 Blast matches, scoring 260 runs at a strike rate of 131.31.
Last month, Masood was one of four players whose central contracts with the Pakistan Cricket Board were reduced to a lower category. Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan (both A to B) and Naseem Shah (B to C) were all demoted by one category, but Masood's contract went from Category B to Category D.
