Sai Kishore picked up seven wickets in the game against Derbyshire, including a five-wicket haul in the second innings, helping Gloucestershire win by 213 runs.
Sai Kishore starred in a massive win for Gloucestershire over Derbyshire in the County Championship on Saturday, September 5. He eventually finished with figures of 5-20 in 18 overs, including a whopping 12 maidens. However, the left-arm spinner completed his five-for only in the first eight overs of his spell, conceding only six runs.
On the way to his five-wicket haul, Sai Kishore dismissed Derbyshire’s five of the top seven batters (Harry Came, Matthew Montgomery, Wayne Madsen, Aneurin Donald, Brooke Guest) to leave them reeling at 41-6 in the 15th over. Oliver Price (three wickets) and Ed Middleton (two) accounted for the other five batters to skittle Derbyshire for just 105 in 38.4 overs.
Sai Kishore had also picked up two wickets in the first innings, of Muhammad Naeem and Donald, to finish with 2-59 in 23 overs. He also scored 20 in the first innings down the order, adding a crucial 48 for the seventh wicket with James Bracey.
Now 29, Sai Kishore has bowled well for Gloucestershire this season, accounting for 13 wickets at 23.07. He has also been a valuable contributor with the bat down the order, mustering 69 runs at 34.5.
As for the match (played at the County Ground in Bristol), Gloucestershire recovered from a precarious 37-5 to post 237 in the first innings after opting to bat. In response, Derbyshire collapsed from 204-2 to 278.
Gloucestershire then staged a terrific comeback, with Miles Hammond and Bracey smashing centuries. They declared at 359-5 to set a 319-run target for Derbyshire. Then came Sai Kishore’s heroics with the ball that helped Gloucestershire end their six-match losing streak this season.
