Rehan Ahmed continued his century streak for Leicestershire today (June 20), scoring his seventh first-class hundred against Yorkshire.
Leicestershire had bowled Yorkshire out for 185 on day one of the fixture, with Rehan taking 2-6 in eight balls to bring the innings to a swift close. Coming in to bat at No.3 on day two after opener Sheridon Gumbs was trapped by Hassan Ali in the seventh over of the innings, Rehan formed a big partnership with Rishi Patel. The pair put on 96 before Patel was dismissed, stumped by Jonny Bairstow off Dan Moriarty, leaving Leicestershire at 113-2.
Rehan continued to lead the pack, advancing Leicestershire into the lead despite the loss of Lewis Hill six overs after Patel's wicket. He reached his century shortly before lunch on day two, his seventh in the format and first of the current season.
His innings also comes after being released from England's Test squad. Rehan was named in the 15-player squad for England's first Test of the summer at Lord's, but he didn't make the final XI. Although there was some speculation that he could come in for Ben Stokes after the all-rounder was not considered for selection for the second Test, England opted to go with Jordan Cox as a specialist batter and no specialist spinner.
Rehan continues golden run since top-order promotion
Rehan has now scored six hundreds in 12 matches since he was moved up the order by Leicestershire last year. Originally put in to open as a cover after an injury, Rehan found a regular home at No.3 for Leicestershire over the 2025 season, and piled on the hundreds. He finished the season with 760 runs at an average of 50.66, and helped Leicestershire win promotion to Division One.
After two matches of this year's Championship, Rehan was picked in the IPL as an injury replacement, with the ongoing fixture against Yorkshire his second match since returning.
He was finally dismissed by Matthew Revis for 128 against Yorkshire.
