Yorkshire have signed Hasan Ali, in red-hot PSL form, for the duration of the T20 Blast and two County Championship matches.
Hasan Ali replaces Naveen-ul-Haq in Yorkshire squad for T20 Blast
Hasan Ali joins the county side as a replacement for Afghanistan’s Naveen-ul-Haq, who will miss the 2026 summer due to injury. The Pakistan pacer will be available for the entirety of the T20 Blast and will also be in the squad for two of Yorkshire’s County Championship games against Warwickshire and Leicestershire.
He has previously featured in the T20 Blast, playing three seasons for Warwickshire from 2023 to 2025, taking 44 wickets in 22 matches at 14.93 and an economy of 8.36, including best figures of 6-23. Ali has also been a regular feature in other T20 leagues around the world, having played 233 matches to take 336 wickets at 20.60 each, and conceding runs at 8.15 per over.
He is currently in red-hot form in PSL 2026 for the Karachi Kings, and is the joint-third-highest wicket-taker with nine wickets in four matches at 13.11. While being prolific in wicket-taking, he has also been economical so far, with a rate of 7.37 per over. Ali has 57 T20I caps for Pakistan, where he has picked up 72 wickets at 23.30 each.
Yorkshire’s general manager, Gavin Hamilton welcomed the Pakistan international’s signing, while also expressing disappointment for Naveen’s injury.
“Whilst we’re naturally disappointed to not see Naveen join us this year, in Hasan we have an exceptional replacement,” Hamilton said while announcing Ali’s signing on in an official statement. “He arrives with a wealth of experience and a skillset that we believe will be invaluable to the group. We’re delighted to have secured someone of Hasan’s quality at such short notice, and everyone at the Club is looking forward to welcoming him to Headingley next month.”
Yorkshire, meanwhile, haven’t had the best of starts to their County Championship season, going down to Hampshire by 214 runs in the second round after a draw with Glamorgan in their tournament opener. They are currently at the bottom of the Division 1 table.
