The dismissal occurred in the second match after England had got off to a good start and were 50-1 after 6.2 overs batting first. Phil Salt’s dismissal, though, brought England captain Buttler to the crease.

On the last ball of the eighth over, just as England were hoping for their skipper to fire, Buttler was flummoxed by a superb yorker. Mahmud slanted the ball into middle and off stump, and Buttler was unable to get his bat down on it in time. He seemed to pick up the length late and could not keep the ball from crashing into his stumps.

Mahmud, understandably, was over the moon after dismissing the England captain. That wicket played a vital role as Bangladesh restricted England to 117, completing a four-wicket victory later in the afternoon.

Bangladesh continued that momentum in the third T20I as well, winning by 16 runs and consigning the reigning T20 men’s World Champions to a 3-0 whitewash. As for Mahmud, he finished the series with three wickets. Those scalps came at an economy rate of 6.5 and an average of 21.66.
