India A have announced their squad for their 2025 England tour, which consists of two first-class matches.

Ahead of India’s 2025 England tour, which is set to mark their 2025-27 World Test Championship cycle, their ‘A’ side will play two unofficial Tests against England Lions, starting May 30.

The squad for the India A side was announced on Friday, with Bengal batter Abhimanyu Easwaran named as captain. Easwaran represented India during their last ‘A’ series against Australia before the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Selected in the main tour as the backup opener, he was poised to open in the first Test due to Rohit Sharma’s unavailability, but a string of low scores derailed his Test debut.

Ruturaj Gaikwad captained India A last time around. Despite suffering an elbow injury in IPL 2025, which ruled him out midway through the tournament, Gaikwad was named in the squad.

With India’s Test team undergoing a transition following the retirement of Rohit, Virat Kohli, and R Ashwin, the ‘A’ series will act as a shadow tour to the main series.

The selection of Test regulars like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Kumar Reddy underscores the series’ importance. Meanwhile, Karun Nair, Ishan Kishan, and Shardul Thakur marked their much-awaited comebacks to the India setup. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan will join the squad ahead of the second match.
