Mohammed Siraj broke into the top 15 of the ICC Test bowling rankings after his nine-wicket haul at The Oval resulted in a famous series-levelling win for India.
Brook, Jaiswal, Mitchell rise
India beat England by six runs at The Oval to level the series 2-2. Following a customary hundred (105 in the fourth innings), table topper Joe Root’s rating rose from 904 to 908: he is 40 points clear of anyone else. Harry Brook, meanwhile, hit 53 and 111 to pip Kane Williamson and regain the second spot.
A third-innings 118 helped Yashasvi Jaiswal jump three places from eighth to fifth, while Daryl Mitchell broke into the top ten after top-scoring with 80 against Zimbabwe. Shubman Gill, meanwhile, dropped from ninth to 13th after his 21 and 11 at The Oval.
Atkinson in top ten, Siraj in top 15
Missing the Oval Test resulted in top-ranked Jasprit Bumrah’s rating dropping from 898 to 889, but he is still 38 clear of Kagiso Rabada at second place. Matt Henry rose from seventh to fourth place after a match haul of 9-90 at Bulawayo. His 8-160 at The Oval propelled Gus Atkinson from 12th to joint 10th.
However, the biggest jumps came from Mohammed Siraj (27th to 15th after 9-190), Prasidh Krishna (84th to 59th after 8-188), and Josh Tongue (60th to 46th after 8-182). Akash Deep took only two wickets to slip from 51st to 57th, but a fifty helped him rise from 74th to 62nd on the all-rounders chart.
