Nat Sciver-Brunt has returned to the top of the ICC Women’s ODI batting rankings following a strong showing in England’s recent home series against India.
Nat Sciver-Brunt overtakes Smirit Mandhana
The England captain scored 160 runs across three matches at an average of 53.33, including a 105-ball 98 in the final ODI at Chester-le-Street. Despite falling just short of a 10th ODI century and England losing the series 2-1, her efforts were enough to reclaim the No.1 position for the first time since July 2024.
Sciver-Brunt previously topped the rankings for the first time in July 2023 and has remained in the top five since. She has made 941 runs with three centuries at an average of 55.35 since first topping the batting charts two years ago.
Smriti Mandhana, who accumulated 115 runs in the series, drops one place to second in the updated rankings. The left-hander, amid a golden run, had a rare failure against England, failing to cross 50 in any game. It is the only series in the last year in which she has failed to score at least one half-century.
Harmanpreet, Jemimah make progress
Meanwhile, two other Indian batters have made upward moves. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur climbed ten spots to 11th after scoring 126 runs, including a match-winning 102 in the final ODI. The century was her seventh in the format and saw her cross 4,000 ODI runs, becoming just the third India women’s player to do so. Jemimah Rodrigues also advanced two places to 13th after contributing 101 runs over three games, with scores of 48 and 50 in the first and third matches, respectively.
South Africa skipper Laura Wolvaardt holds third place on the ODI batters’ chart, with Australia’s Ellyse Perry and captain Alyssa Healy completing the top five.
In the ODI bowlers’ rankings, England’s Sophie Ecclestone remains in first position. She took five wickets during the series against India, the second-highest tally. Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner is second, followed by Meghan Schutt, Deepti Sharma, and Kim Garth in the top five.
