Highest scores in men’s T20Is, full list: Where does Salt’s Manchester blitz rank?

Salt headlined England's record-breaking total of 304-2, the third-highest total in T20I history, and the fourth-highest overall in T20s. It began with Salt and Jos Buttler's opening blitz, bringing up the team 100 inside the powerplay itself. By the ninth over, they'd crossed 150.

Salt smashes England's all-time best score

Buttler perished for 83 off 30 in just over half an hour, cracking seven sixes and eight fours. The demolition job continued.

Jacob Bethell came in next, smashing a 14-ball 26, with captain Harry Brook contributing with a quickfire 41* (21).

Salt continued his assault, carrying his bat with a boundary-filled 141 off 60. He reached his century in 39 balls, the fastest ever for England.

His innings contained 15 fours and eight sixes. Bjorn Fortuin was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with 2-52 as every bowler went at over 10.

In response, South Africa managed only 158, with Jofra Archerclaiming three wickets. Aiden Markram top scored with 41 off 20.

Salt's 141* was the highest T20I score by an English player ever, and put him among the top ten on the all-time list.
