At Johannesburg, South Africa beat Australia by 32 runs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Temba Bavuma (103 in 116) and David Miller (142 in 93) took the hosts to 365-9 as Jack Edwards returned 5-67. Despite a fiery start from openers Mitchell Marsh (84 in 53) and Travis Head (84 in 76), Australia could only reach 333.

At Thiruvananthapuram, India beat the West Indies with eight wickets and 50 balls in hand. After Justin Greaves scored a 108-ball 101, Kuldeep Yadav (4-40) brought India back into the game to restrict the visitors to 295-7. Shubman Gill (110 in 108) and Virat Kohli (139 not out in 88) then sealed a comfortable win.

England displaced Sri Lanka at sixth place, though they are separated only by decimals (95.1 to 94.9). Australia, meanwhile, slipped below South Africa and even Pakistan and are now fifth, though Pakistan (100.5) are ahead of Australia (100.4) only by decimals.

The win also helped South Africa (106) to inch closer to second-placed New Zealand (109). Top-ranked India gained a rating point, while the West Indies’s position remained unchanged.
