England quick Jamie Overton has been ruled out of the West Indies white-ball series with a broken finger.

Jamie Overton ruled out of West Indies ODIs and T20Is

On Saturday, the ECB issued a press release stating, "England and Surrey all-rounder Jamie Overton has been ruled out of the remaining Metro Bank One-Day Internationals and the Vitality IT20s against the West Indies due to a broken right little finger.

"Overton sustained the injury during England’s first Metro Bank ODI victory at Edgbaston on Thursday. He will now undergo a period of rehabilitation under the supervision of the England medical team. No replacement will be added to the ODI squad."

The injury took place during the eighth over of West Indies' chase against England. Overton had come on to bowl for the first time in the match, and Keacy Carty's firm punch back down the ground caught him on the little finger.

Naturally, Overton dropped the catch, and immediately left the field for treatment. He did return to action in the game, though, bowling 5.2 overs in all and finishing with figures of 3-22 as England won by 238 runs.

He is the latest in a long line of England quicks to make it to the treatment table. Mark Wood has already been ruled out of the Test series against India, while Jofra Archer is absent for the West Indies ODIs through injury. Gus Atkinson and Olly Stone are also unavailable, with Chris Woakes and Brydon Carse on the road to recovery.

The second ODI between England and West Indies is on June 1 at Cardiff, and the T20I series begins on June 6.
