The start of the third England-West Indies ODI, at the Oval in London, has been delayed for an ulikely reason.
England and West Indies are scheduled to play the third and final ODI of the three-match series at The Oval in London today (June 3), but the London traffic has delayed the start of the match.
Originally scheduled to start at 1pm local time, an ECB update just before what should have been the toss time mentioned "due to a delayed arrival of one of the playing teams, who are stuck in heavy traffic north of the river, the scheduled start of play will be delayed."
While the ECB release didn't specify the team, it's clear it is West Indies given the fact that England have already arrived at the venue and had been training by the time the update was sent around.
"Once all members of the playing teams arrive, the match officials will coordinate updated timings and discuss any impact on the schedule of play. We will update spectators with the schedule of play as soon as we are able to," read the rest of the release.
There's also some rain forecast for the afternoon, which can cause further delays to the third ODI.
AccuWeatherpredicts a 61 per cent chance of rain around 1pm (the originally scheduled start time), and 45 per cent around 2pm. The prediction hovers between 44 and 51 per cent right through till 7pm, after which it drops down to 20 per cent.
BBCWeatherpredicts a stronger chance of rain during the first few hours of the game: 78 per cent at 1pm, 90 per cent at 2pm, and 81 per cent at 3pm.
