ENG v ZIM 2025 Test: When and where will the match be played?
The first Test match to take place between the two sides since 2003 will begin at Trent Bridge on Thursday (May 22). The four-day match will start at 11am local time.
ENG vs ZIM Test: Team news and injury updates
Zimbabwe will be captained by veteran batter Craig Ervine, while home-side skipper Ben Stokes has recovered sufficiently from a hamstring injury he aggravated over the winter to resume his all-round role.
England announced their playing XI two days before the Test, with Essex seamer Sam Cook confirmed to be making his Test debut. Cook was close to receiving his maiden cap last summer, before he picked up an injury ahead of England's series against West Indies. He comes into the side alongside Josh Tongue, who last played a Test match in the 2023 Ashes and has been largely kept out of action through injury since. Both come into the side with several of England's other pace attack missing through injury, including Chris Woakes, Mark Wood and Olly Stone.
Zimbabwe are yet to name their final playing XI, but experienced all-rounder Sikandar Raza has been included in their squad after T20 franchise commitments kept him out of their February Test against Ireland and the series against Bangladesh. He replaces Jonathan Campbell, with Clive Madande also returning from injury.
