Italy cruised to a 10-wicket win against Nepal in the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup today (February 12), chasing down 124 in 12.4 overs.

The men’s T20 World Cup has burst into life, already delivering a rare twin Super Over and a string of near upsets as Associate sides pushed established teams to the brink. There have also been memorable firsts, like when Italy got off to a flier to record their maiden win in the competition on Thursday.

Batting first at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Nepal lost Kushal Bhurtel early, before Aasif Sheikh and skipper Rohit Paudel steadied the innings. However, their dismissal, in the span of three deliveries, pegged Nepal back. Dipendra Singh Airee, who, on Thursday, earned a PSL deal, and Aarif Sheikh, took the team nearer to the 100-run mark, but suffered a collapse soon after.

From 93-3, they fell to 102-8, with Crishan Kalugamage picking up three wickets for 18 runs in four overs. Nepal were eventually dismissed for 123 with three balls left.

Italy cruise to maiden T20 World Cup win

In reply, Italy’s openers, the Mosca brothers - Justin and Anthony - got off to a blazing start. They reached 50 after the end of the fourth over, with a massive six taking them to the landmark. By the end of the powerplay, they were 68-0 and needed just 12.3 overs to see off the run chase. Justin was unbeaten on 60 (44 balls) with the help of three sixes and five fours, while Anthony was the more aggressive of the two, hitting 62* in 32 balls, with as many as six sixes. He also struck at 193.75 - only 26 others have scored more runs at a better strike rate than him in an innings in the history of the competition.

Overall, it was just the eighth instance of a team registering a 10-wicket win in the men’s T20 World Cup. Australia were the first team to do so, when they chased Sri Lanka’s target of 102 runs in 10.2 overs without losing a wicket, in 2007.

The record stood for five years before South Africa also registered a 10-wicket win in the T20 World Cup, against Zimbabwe.
