For the first time in their history, Italy have qualified for an ICC global tournament, securing their spot in the 2026 men's T20 World Cup.
Set to be played in 2026, the T20 World Cup now has 15 confirmed teams, after Italy and the Netherlands have qualified for the tournament.

The Europe Region Final took place in The Hague from July 5, featuring Scotland, the Netherlands, Italy, Jersey, and Guernsey. After a single round-robin, the Netherlands and Italy finished as the top two teams and secured qualification for the 2026 T20 World Cup, joining England and Ireland as Europe’s representatives.
India and Sri Lanka qualified as co-hosts, while Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, the USA, and the West Indies earned their spots based on final positions at the 2024 tournament. Ireland, New Zealand, and Pakistan qualified via ICC rankings.The remaining five spots will come from the ICC regional qualifiers: two from Africa, and three from Asia & East Asia-Pacific. Canada have already secured qualification from the Americas region.
Ahead of the last game of the league between the Netherlands and Italy, the Netherlands were on four points, with Italy and Jersey on five points each. The Netherlands managed to beat Italy by nine wickets - chasing 135 with 22 balls to spare - to finish on top of the table. However, Italy managed to go past Jersey’s net run rate, securing a place for themselves in the T20 World Cup next year.
