Michael Vaughan has said England have a better spin attack than India as the two sides prepare to face off in the T20 World Cup semi-final.

Vaughan Dawson, Rashid and Jacks have been the best spin trio at the World Cup

Speaking on the Test Match Special podcast, Vaughan said: "England have a better spin attack than India. [Varun] Chakaravarthy has been got at; Dawson, Rashid and Will Jacks have been the best trio in the tournament in terms of spin."

India entered T20 World Cup as outright favourites on home soil , with their spinners expected to rule the roost. But only Chakaravarthy has played all seven matches so far, and while he is their top wicket-taker with 12, he has gone for runs against strong batting line-ups.

Kuldeep Yadav has played only one game, bowling three overs and taking one wicket, while Axar Patel has seven wickets in five matches. In comparison, England's spinners have made the most of conditions on offer, with the trio of Adil Rashid, Liam Dawson and Will Jacks picking up 28 wickets between them. Rehan Ahmed also took two wickets for 28 runs in his only outing against New Zealand.

Though England are yet to dish out a complete performance, with their top order, except captain Harry Brook, misfiring, they have been able to cross the line in six of their seven matches, and are on a run of five consecutive wins.

"England's fielding has been absolutely exceptional,” Vaughan added. “They look really alert. England's running between the wickets has been exceptional. The small percentage things you can control themselves, England seem to be doing very well. I just have a funny feeling England can get the job done in Mumbai.”

India and England will face off in semi-final 2 of the 2026 T20 World Cup in Mumbai on Thursday, March 5.
