I have started Milne, we should be able to cover once Sankalp logs in I think

New Zealand quick Adam Milne has been ruled out of the 2026 T20 World Cup after having sustained an injury.

Adam Milne out of T20 World Cup

The 33-year-old quick, who was recalled to the New Zealand squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, has been ruled out of the tournament after suffering a hamstring injury while playing in the 2025/26 SA20.

Playing for the Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Milne was building up a solid campaign, having taken 11 wickets in eight innings at an economy rate of 7.61. However, he pulled up in his delivery stride after just three balls against MICT and left the field. Subsequent scans have revealed a torn hamstring, ruling him out of the SA20 season as well as the T20 World Cup.

“We’re all gutted for Adam,” New Zealand coach Rob Walter said. “He’d worked so hard to get himself ready for the tournament and was looking back to his best in his eight games for the Eastern Cape Sunrisers. It's unfortunate timing for Adam and we wish him a speedy recovery.”

Kyle Jamieson named replacement

Kyle Jamieson, who is part of the New Zealand squad for the ongoing T20I series against India, has been named as Milne's replacement. Jamieson, unlike Milne, is a centrally contracted player with New Zealand Cricket, and was originally named as a travelling reserve for the T20 World Cup.

He had an impressive ODI series against India, picking up six wickets at 28.16. However, the tall right-arm seamer was pumped for 54 runs in his four overs in the first T20I against the same opponents. Overall, Jamieson has played 24 T20Is, from which he has taken 23 wickets at an economy rate of 9.40.

“It’s great that Kyle is already with us here in India. He’s an integral member of our pace-bowling group and has hit the ground running on this tour. He’s a hard worker with a good set of skills and experiences that will hold him good stead for the tournament," Walter said.

The New Zealand coach also confirmed that a travelling reserve would be named in due course.
