T20 World Cup points table, Updated T20 WC points table, T20 World Cup 2026

Both the co-hosts India and Sri Lanka suffered defeats today at the Super Eights of the 2026 Men's T20 World Cup - here are the updated points tables after the SL vs ENG and IND vs SA matches.

T20 World Cup Super Eights: Day two recap

Sri Lanka vs England

Sri Lanka opted to field in Pallekele and had England in trouble at 49-3 in 7.5 overs. Phil Salt held one end up even as others fell around him. His 40-ball 62 was the top score for England as they ambled their way to 146-9 in 20 overs.

What looked like a chaseable target soon became a nightmare for Sri Lanka as they imploded early in the chase. By the sixth over, they had lost half their side with Will Jacks picking up three of those wickets. Dasun Shanaka hung around for a bit, but it wasn't enough to prevent them from succumbing to a demoralising 51-run defeat.

      India vs South Africa

India suffered their first defeat at a men's T20 World Cup since the 2022 semi-final loss against England. After pegging South Africa back to 20-3 in the first innings, Indian bowlers ended up conceding 187-7 in 20 overs thanks largely to Dewald Brevis (45 off 29), David Miller (63 of 35), and Tristan Stubbs' (44 off 24) knocks.

In response, India could never get going. Only Shivam Dube scored beyond 20 (42 off 37) as the hosts were bowled out for 111 to lose the game by a massive 76 runs.
