Amanjot Kaur was ruled out of India’s Women’s World Cup 2025 game against Pakistan due to illness.
India seemed comfortably placed at 120-2 after 25 overs in their 2025 World Cup opener, at Guwahati. Inoka Ranaweera (4-46) then prised out three wickets in five balls, while Chamari Athapaththu struck at the other end to reduce the co-hosts to 124-6.
Amanjot joined Deepti Sharma at this point. With a 56-ball 57, she dominated the 103-run stand to lift India to a competitive total. Sharma (53 in 53) then pushed the score to 269-8 in a game reduced to 47 overs a side due to rain breaks.
Sri Lanka, 82-1 after 15 overs, lost Athapaththu (43 in 47) and with her, the impetus. They collapsed to 211 as Sharma claimed 3-54. Opening the bowling, Amanjot finished with 1-37.
India vs Pakistan: Amanjot Kaur misses out
At the toss during India's match against Pakistan in Colombo, captain Harmanpreet Kaur mentioned that an “unwell” Amanjot would miss the game. India replaced her with Renuka Singh Thakur. Pakistan, on the other hand, brought in Sadaf Shamas for Omaima Sohail.
Amanjot had missed the three-match series against Australia at home, which somewhat affected India’s balance. They faced the same problem here: forced to choose between an extra seamer and boosting batting depth, they opted for the former.
After Pakistan won the toss and opted to field, India were 48-1 in nine overs at the time of writing with Smriti Mandhana dismissed for 23 and Pratika Rawal (24) and Harleen Deol (0) at the crease.
