In India's fourth match of the 2025 World Cup at Visakhapatnam, they were put in to bat after Australia skipper Alyssa Healy won the toss. India openers Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal made a sedate start, getting to 26 in seven overs before accelerating, to take 32 off the next three.

In the course of that acceleration, Mandhana set a new world record, becoming the first woman to score 1,000 ODI runs in a year, when she hit left-arm spinner Sophie Molineux for six over long on.
She went on the bring up her first half-century of the tournament off 46 balls. Another six, this time off Kim Garth, made her just the fifth woman to score 5,000 runs in ODI cricket.
Of the five, Mandhana is the fastest to the mark, getting there in her 112th innings, beating Stafanie Taylor's 129 innings by 17. Across genders, she is the third-fastest to 5,000 ODI runs. Only Babar Azam (97) and Hashim Amla (101) have done so in fewer innings.
Before Mandhana, the Indian record for fastest to 5,000 ODI runs belonged to Virat Kohli, who had reached the milestone in 114 innings, same as West Indians Viv Richards and Shai Hope.
She eventually scored 80, before being caught to end a 155-run opening stand.
