England registered a memorable win against South Africa in the Women’s ODI World Cup, with the game lasting just 34.5 overs: Here’s the latest points table after the ENG vs SA clash in the 2025 WC.
Batting first at Guwahati, South Africa were blown away by Linsey Smith, who returned figures of 7-3 after her first three overs. The Proteas lost their first wicket with the score on 9, and it was a procession thereafter, with only Sinalo Jafta able to show resistance.
South Africa were eventually bundled out for 69, their second-lowest total in the Women’s World Cup. Ten batters didn't make it out of single digits, with Jafta top-scoring with 22. Every England bowler used picked up a wicket, with Smith bagging three, and the trio of Nat Sciver-Brunt, Sophie Ecclestone and Charlie Dean getting two each. Lauren Bell also got one wicket.
It was mere formality thereafter, with England needing just 14.1 overs to chase down the target. Tammy Beaumont was unbeaten on 21, while Amy Jones struck 40 off 50, as they registered a 10-wicket win. It was their fourth-biggest win in terms of balls to spare, with 215 remaining in the innings.
