The women's ODI World Cup match between Pakistan and New Zealand was washed out on Saturday (October 18). Here is how the points table looks now.
Rain forces fourth no result of 2025 World Cup
The match was reduced to a 46-over affair due to rain interruptions. Batting first, Pakistan lost opener Omaima Sohail for three. One wicket brought another, as they lost Muneeba Ali just three balls later without adding to the score. Thereon, wickets continued to fall at regular intervals.
Some resistance came from No. 4 Aliya Riaz, who was unbeaten on 28 off 52 balls, with Pakistan at 92-5 in 25 overs when rain poured down again. For New Zealand, Lea Tahuhu picked up 2-20, while the Kerr sisters, Amelia and Jess, picked up one each, with Eden Carson also taking one wicket.
No further play was possible, and the match was called off. That was the fourth match to end in a no result in this edition, with all four occurring at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. However, the record for the most no results in a Women's ODI World Cup belongs to the 2004-05 edition in South Africa, which saw a total of eight matches end without a result.
Neither team changed their position on the points table. New Zealand remain in fifth with four points, level with India, who have played a match fewer. Pakistan, meanwhile, continue to teeter at the bottom; both of their points from five matches have come from no results.
