The fifth match of the 2025 Women's World Cup was washed out in Colombo: here's the updated WWC 2025 points table after the SL vs AUS game.
It was a damp afternoon in Colombo that forced Sri Lanka and Australia to share points after the match was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
Sri Lanka came into the game having briefly given India a scare in the World Cup opener in Guwahati courtesy of Inoka Ranaweera's four-wicket haul, before the hosts' depth bailed them out of trouble. Australia, on the other hand, had trounced New Zealand by 89 runs in their first match in Indore.
Given Australia's standing as the clear favourites for the title, Sri Lanka wouldn't be too displeased with the result, managing to get a point out of what could be their toughest fixture of the group stage. Australia, meanwhile, would look at this as a potential lost opportunity.

With the no-result, Australia have risen to the top of the standings, having moved ahead of England, Bangladesh, and India, each of whom has two points from one match so far. Sri Lanka have opened their account with this game, are now fifth.
Australia's next fixture is against Pakistan on October 8, while Sri Lanka play England next, on October 11. Both those games will be held in Colombo.
