India player ratings vs Australia

India lost their ODI series against Australia 1-2. Here are the player ratings for India for the AUS vs IND series.

Rohit Sharma - 9

3 innings, 202 runs @ 101, SR 85.59, HS: 121*, 1 fifty, 1 hundred

Returning after the Champions Trophy, all eyes were on Rohit and Kohli. The former India captain struggled to start with, nicking off to Josh Hazlewood at Perth and riding his luck to make an uncharacteristically slow 73 in Adelaide. Slowly but surely though, he found his rhythm and finished off on a high, scoring his 33rd ODI ton at Sydney to quash all noise around his fitness and form.

Shubman Gill - 3

3 innings, 43 runs @ 14.33, SR 81.13, HS: 24

Gill's start to his career as ODI captain didn't go as well as his Test initiation went. Although he looked good at Sydney, Hazlewood had him caught behind before he could go past 25.

Virat Kohli - 6

3 innings, 74 runs @ 37, SR 79.56, HS: 74, 1 fifty

Kohli had a nightmarish start to the series, recording unprecedented back-to-back ducks. Just when noise grew around whether this is the end of the road, he responded with an unbeaten 74 in the third game, becoming the second-highest run-scorer in the history of the format and letting everyone know he's still got it.

Shreyas Iyer - 6

2 innings, 72 runs @ 36, SR 71.28, HS: 61, 1 fifty

After a strangle down the leg side in Perth, Iyer combined with Rohit in the second game to add 118 runs for the third wicket, making a well-compiled 61 off 77. He looked set to convert it into a century, but played an Adam Zampa delivery onto his stumps. Unfortunately, he suffered an injury while taking a catch in the third game and wasn't required to bat.

KL Rahul - 5

2 innings, 49 runs @ 24.50, SR 106.52, HS: 38

Rahul let some respectability to India's total in the first match when their batting innings was interrupted several times by rain. His calculated assault from No.6 (38 off 31) gave India something to play with. That, however, was followed by a disappointing outing in the second ODI.

Nitish Kumar Reddy - 3

2 innings, 27 runs @ 27, SR 128.57, HS: 19*
2 innings, 0 wickets, ER 7.74

Reddy was used at No.8 in both games he played, and apart from a 10-ball 19 not out in the first match, couldn't create much impact with the bat. With the ball, his 5.1 overs were equally ineffective, and he ended up missing the last match due to injury. He'll not have many fond memories of his debut ODI series.

Washington Sundar - 6

2 innings, 22 runs @ 11, SR 91.66, HS: 12
3 innings, 5 wickets @ 19, ER 5, BBI: 2-37

Sundar failed with the bat on both occasions he was required, but was outstanding with the ball. He managed to strike the perfect balance between containing runs and taking wickets, which could be especially difficult for a finger spinner in white-ball cricket in Australia.

Axar Patel - 9

2 innings, 75 runs @ 37.50, SR 94.93, HS: 44
3 innings, 3 wickets @ 29.66, ER 4.45, BBI: 1-18

Axar didn't take as many wickets as Sundar, but was more than half a run economical than the off-spinner. Add to that his two knocks of 31 and 44 from No.5 in the first two ODIs, and he becomes arguably India's MVP of the series.

Harshit Rana - 9

2 innings, 25 runs @ 25, SR: 125, HS: 24*
3 innings, 6 wickets @ 20.83, ER 6.04, BBI: 4-39

Rana came with a lot of scrutiny over his place in the side, not least because his presence was keeping Kuldeep Yadav out of the XI. But he responded well to the pressure, his 4-39 at Sydney and a late cameo from No.9 (24* off 18) in Adelaide being the highlights of the series. In more sluggish conditions, he might still find it tough make it to the XI, but considering the 2027 World Cup will be in South Africa, this performance would be a big positive for India to take away.

Kuldeep Yadav - 6

1 innings, 1 wicket @ 50, ER 5, BBI: 1-50

Kuldeep conceded 45 runs for no wickets in his first seven overs in Sydney - the only game he played - but came back strongly to finish with 1-50 in 10.

Arshdeep Singh - 7

2 innings, 3 wickets @ 24, ER 5.4, BBI: 2-41

Arshdeep Singh swung the new ball both ways in the powerplay and kept the usually ultra-aggressive pair of Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh in check, dismissing both of them once.

Mohammed Siraj - 7

3 innings, 2 wickets @ 47, ER 4.94, BBI: 1-24

Siraj returned to the ODI setup after being dropped from the Champions Trophy squad for not being effective enough with the old ball. He finished with only two wickets in the series, but bowled exceedingly well to go at less than five runs per over despite bowling in the powerplay.

Prasidh Krishna - 3

1 innings, 1 wicket @ 52, ER 7.42, BBI: 1-52

Krishna replaced Arshdeep for the third ODI and bowled first change. The only wicket he got was that of Nathan Ellis slogging at the death.
