Shubman Gill neck injury

India captain Shubman Gill was hospitalised late on Saturday after suffering a neck injury earlier in the day. Here's the latest update on him.

Shubman Gill ruled out of remainder of Kolkata Test

Before the start of play on the third day, the BCCI confirmed that Gill has been ruled out of the rest of the first Test match.

"Captain Shubman Gill had a neck injury on Day 2 of the ongoing Test against South Africa in Kolkata. He was taken to the hospital for examination after the end of day's play.

"He is currently under observation in the hospital. He will take no further part in the Test match. He will continue to be monitored by the BCCI medical team," BCCI posted on their social media handles.

This implies India would be a batter short in the fourth innings, chasing what could turn out to be a tricky target based on how long South Africa's last three partnerships resist on the third morning.
