India worst defeats in women's ODIs

Australia took only 16.1 overs to chase 101 against India in the first ODI, at Brisbane, setting a new record in the process.

Australia demolished India in the first ODI of the three-match series, at the Allan Border Field. With 5-19, Megan Schutt led the rout as the tourists collapsed to exactly 100 in 34.2 overs after Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and opted to bat. Jemimah Rodrigues (23) was the only Indian to go past 20.

Phoebe Litchfield (35 in 29 balls) and Georgia Voll (46 not out in 42) then got the hosts off to a rollicking start, adding 48 for the first wicket in 41 balls. Renuka Singh Thakur (3-45) and Priya Mishra (2-11) kept striking, but Australia won comfortably in 16.2 overs with five wickets in hand.

This is a new record for the fewest overs taken by any side to chase a target against India in an ODI. Excluding adjusted targets, the previous record was with England in the 1982 World Cup, when they bowled out India for 61 and chased down the target in 21.3 overs.
