Watch: At the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Royal Challenger Bangalore’s Impact Player Anuj Rawat ran out Prithvi Shaw in spectacular fashion.
Asked to bat by Delhi Capitals captain David Warner, Bangalore put up 174-6. Virat Kohli made a 34-ball 50 at the top, while Mitchell Marsh (2-18) and Kuldeep Yadav (2-23) finished with two wickets apiece.
Bangalore had lost three wickets in three balls to be reduced to 132-6 in the 15th over, and immediately drafted in their Impact Player, Rawat – somewhat surprisingly – for Mahipal Lomror, who bowls a bit. Rawat (15 not out in 22 balls) helped Shahbaz Ahmed (20 not out in 12) put on an unbroken 42.
Mohammed Siraj bowled the first over. Warner defended the first ball before he flicked the next for a single, bringing Prithvi Shaw on strike.
Shaw came into the match with a run of 12, 7, 0, 15 in this IPL. Here, he had come in as an Impact Player for Mustafizur Rahman, and played the first ball to mid-wicket.
He then pushed the second ball to the right of Rawat at extra-cover and set off. Rawat flung himself to his right, stopped the ball, stood on to his feet, and threw the stumps down at the bowler’s end, leaving Shaw some distance outside the crease.
At the time of writing, Delhi were 100-7 in 14.2 overs, with Aman Khan (8) and Lalit Yadav (1) at the crease.
