Watch: Virat Kohli was dismissed for a spinner for the fifth time in nine innings in the 2023 IPL, after he was stumped out by LSG’s Ravi Bishnoi today (April 1).

Kohli, who has scored 364 runs at an average of 45.50 in the ongoing IPL, has had his struggles against spin, often slowing down in the middle overs when the slower bowlers enter the attack. On Monday, he was unable to get off to a free-flowing start with LSG opening the bowling with Krunal Pandya. He was 21 off 19 after the end of the powerplay overs, as Lucknow bowled four overs of spin in the first six.

He lacked momentum even thereafter and was eventually dismissed by Ravi Bishnoi on the last ball of the ninth over. He stepped out against a googly, but missed as the ball spun back in, beating his inside edge and into the hands of keeper Nicholas Pooran, who was prompt in breaking the stumps.

Kohli has a batting strike rate of 110 against spin this IPL and has been dismissed against the slower bowlers nine times in 18 innings.
