Yashasvi Jaiswal served up another reminder of why he is the most exciting uncapped young batter in India today (April 27) with a thrilling 43-ball 77 for Rajasthan Royals against Chennai Super Kings today in Jaipur.
Jaiswal, opening the batting with Jos Buttler, raced off to a flyer in the powerplay, ending it on 40 off 21 deliveries. The 21-year-old was ruthless against the CSK quicks, despatching Akash Singh for three boundaries in the opening over before hitting him for 20 two overs later.
The end of the powerplay didn’t mark any noticeable change in approach with Jaiswal continuing to take the attack against all of CSK’s bowlers.
A mark of his intent was how he took on Ravindra Jadeja, depositing his fourth ball into the stands with a confidently played reverse sweep.
Jaiswal eventually fell for 77, his highest score in the IPL. Already a regular for India ‘A’ and boasting an astonishing first-class average of 80.21, Jaiswal is surely an India player in waiting.
