Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan, Gujarat Titans' high-flying opening pair, equalled a world record with their unbeaten stand during their ten-wicket win over Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025.
KL Rahul's fifth IPL century – his first in three seasons – wasn't enough for the Capitals to secure a win, leaving them fifth on the points table and in a trickier position to qualify. They've now been winless in their last four matches, with one of them abandoned.
Gill and Sudharsan chased down the 200-run target in 19 overs: while the captain ended on 93 off 53, Sudharsan cracked his second IPL hundred, finishing on 108 off 61. With their unbeaten partnership, they equalled a world record in all men’s T20 set by Pakistan's Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan three years ago.
Gujarat Titans v Delhi Capitals: Full scorecard:
Against England at Karachi, the duo remained unbeaten as Pakistan chased down 200 in 19.3 overs: Babar stayed unbeaten on 110 off 66, while Rizwan finished on 88 off 51. Gujarat's chase marked just the second instance in men's T20 history when a team batting second had won a match, scoring 200 without losing a single wicket.
It was also the highest partnership in IPL history for a chasing team (for any wicket), beating Naman Ojha and David Warner's 189 for Delhi Daredevils against Deccan Chargers in 2012.
It also marked only the third instance in IPL history that had an opening pair had put on a 200-run partnership. Gill and Sudharsan are the only pair to have done it twice, having put on 210 against Chennai Super Kings last season, the joint-highest opening stand in the tournament's history.
The pair is now the fifth-most prolific duo in IPL history, with 1,985 runs at 68.44.
The partnership also took both Gill and Sudharsan past the 600-run mark in this IPL. The duo now occupies the top two places on the Orange Cap list, with Sudharsan leading on 617, and Gill not far behind on 601.
