The IPL match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals on Monday (May 5) was abandoned due to rain - here is the updated IPL 2025 points table after the SRH vs DC game.
Bowling first in Hyderabad, captain Pat Cummins gave SRH a dream start, reducing DC to 15-3. He dismissed Karun Nair off the first ball for a duck and then picked up Faf du Plessis (3) and Abishek Porel (8) in successive overs. The early collapse rattled DC, who at one point risked falling below RCB's record low total of 49 after slumping to 29-5. An unbeaten 36-ball 41 from Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma’s 26-ball 41 restored sanity, helping them scramble to 133-7 in 20 overs.
SRH would have fancied chasing the modest total in their must-win game, but rain intervened. A downpour left the outfield unplayable, forcing the match to be abandoned without a ball bowled in the second innings.
IPL 2025 points table after SRH vs DC
The teams shared points after the season’s second washout, leaving DC fifth on 13 points. They now aim to surpass Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians, both of whom are now on 14 points each, and are placed at fourth and third, respectively.
SRH have risen to eighth place in the standings. However, they have now become the third team to be eliminated from playoff contention, joining ninth-placed Rajasthan Royals and tenth-placed Chennai Super Kings. They can now reach a maximum of 13 points, which is insufficient to qualify for the playoffs.
