Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings are set to face off in a high-profile IPL 2025 clash on Saturday in Bengaluru, but rain could play spoilsport.

These sides are coming off contrasting results and seasons. RCB managed a hard-fought win over top four rivals Delhi Capitals last Sunday, while CSK were once again beaten at home this season by Punjab Kings on Wednesday. This will be their first meeting at this venue since RCB beat CSK here last May to qualify for the playoffs at their expense.

A win for RCB in this fixture would take them to 16 points, usually the number that sees teams qualify for the playoffs. They will fancy their chances against a CSK side that remains rooted to the bottom of the table, but rain could deny them that chance.

RCB v CSK: How likely is rain to disrupt the match?

Accuweather predicts the chances of rain in Bengaluru to ramp up by roughly 4:00PM, to 47 per cent. It remains that way at 7:00PM, the scheduled toss time for the game. The forecast does get slightly worse, with thunderstorms predicted between 8:00PM and 9:00PM. The chances of rain drop to about 33 per cent by 10:00PM, but if it still raining by then, there may not be enough time to get even a shortened game in.

BBC Weather is slightly more optimistic, as it puts the maximum chances of rain during the day at 3:30PM (47 per cent). This comes down to 34 per cent by 6:30PM, and 22 per cent by 7:30PM, the match start time. "Thundery showers" are predicted around 8:30PM, but with just a 15 per cent chance.

Weather.com predicts isolated and scattered thunderstorms through various points during the afternoon and evening, with chances of rain somewhere between Accuweather and BBC Weather. The chances are as high as 76 per cent around 3:30PM, and peak again with 48 per cent at 7:30PM. It reduces drastically thereafter, meaning a slightly shortened game could be on the cards if this prediction is accurate.
