cricketers who can go from PSL to IPL

Dasun Shanaka, Blessing Muzarabani, and Spencer Johnson have already foregone PSL contracts to take up deals in IPL 2026. Here are some others who may join suit.

Criterion for the list

As mentioned above, Shanaka, Muzarabani, and Johnson have already signed up for IPL 2026 sides. Gudakesh Motie, Ottniel Baartman, Johnson Charles, and all Afghan cricketers have opted out of PSL 2026, and are not part of this list. Bangladeshi cricketers, unlikely to be part of the 2026 IPL, are also not included.

Sikandar Raza would have been an automatic choice on this list, but that seems unlikely after the commitment he showed to play for the Lahore Qalandars a day after playing a Test match in England last year. However, there are some whom the IPL teams may still approach from the PSL squads.

Richard Gleeson

PSL team: Islamabad United

Among overseas cricketers, the IPL franchises have historically invested in power-hitters, all-rounders, and ... fast bowlers. Gleeson caught the Indian eyeballs with his stunning international debut against India in 2022, and has been a regular face in franchise cricket over the past few years. He has played in the IPL in the past, for the Chennai Super Kings in 2024 and for the Mumbai Indians in 2025.

Riley Meredith

PSL team: Hyderabad Kingsmen

In the Men’s Hundred 2025, only Josh Tongue took more wickets than Meredith’s 12. At the IPL, Meredith has had longer stints than Gleeson – for the Punjab Kings in 2021, and for the MI across the two seasons that followed. He does not hit the high 140s as often as he used to, but he may bring value to the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Lucknow Super Giants, who are struggling with their fast bowlers’ injuries.

Aaron Hardie

PSL team: Peshawar Zalmi

Seam-bowling all-rounders are gold dust, which makes Hardie an excellent option. What is more, he is in great form. His 339 runs (strike rate 146) and 12 wickets (economy 8.63) were key to Perth Scorchers winning the title: only Marcus Stoinis in 2018/19 had more runs and wickets in a season than Hardie in 2025/26. Hardie has been in good form in all formats in domestic cricket since then. In T20Is, he has batted at every position from opening to No.8.

Bevon Jacobs

PSL team: Quetta Gladiators

In the Super Smash in 2025/26, Jacobs hit five T20I half-centuries (the joint third-most in history). More significantly, he got those runs at a strike rate of 174, and hit a six every 8.5 balls. MI picked this hard-hitting batter for the IPL 2024, but he did not get a game – though he has since played for the MI Emirates in the ILT20.

Adam Zampa

PSL team: Karachi Kings

Finally, Zampa. IPL franchises are not known to splurge on overseas spinners unless they are truly world-class, but Zampa does belong to that category. Most IPL teams have their spin-bowling slots filled up, but Zampa is a master in Indian conditions: he has gone for a under eight an over across 31 T20 games in India.
