What were the talking points in CSK vs GT and LSG vs KKR, IPL 2026 Match 37 & 38?
In a complete 180 from yesterday's double-header, both games today saw relatively low scores that took us back to the early years of the IPL. CSK imploded with the bat early on and needed captain Ruturaj Gaikwad to anchor their innings to take them to a competitive total. It didn't turn out to be enough, however, as GT gunned down the total with ease.
A similar story unfolded in Lucknow where the KKR batting was dismantled by Mohsin Khan and a controversial obstructing the field decision. But they came back strongly with the ball to build pressure on LSG and choke them with spin. But last-over drama took the match into the Super Over, where Sunil Narine restricted LSG to just one run to help KKR secure an easy win.
Who were the top performers in CSK vs GT and LSG vs KKR?
Ruturaj Gaikwad top-scored for CSK to make his first half-century of the season, albeit it was a slowish one (74 not out off 60). Kagiso Rabada took 3-25 and was adjudged Player of the Match. Sai Sudharsan followed up his hundred from two nights back with a clinical 87 off 46 to take GT home.
Rinku Singh made his highest ever T20 score (83 not out off 51) to dig KKR out of a hole, while Mohsin Khan became the third Indian left-arm quick to take an IPL five-for (5-23 in four overs with one maiden). Rishabh Pant made 42 off 38 in the chase but the KKR spinners – Anukul Roy, Varun Chakravarthy, and Sunil Narine – combined to bowl 10 overs for 3-75 to restrict LSG before late cameos from Mohammed Shami (11 off 6) and Himmat Singh (19 off 10) coupled with multiple no-balls from Kartik Tyagi took the match to a Super Over. In the Super Over, Narine got the wickets of Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram to keep LSG down to just one, which Rinku finished off with one blow.
