What were the talking points in MI vs RR and KKR vs DC?

Despite the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, MI began well to restrict RR to 54-3 in the powerplay. Dhruv Jurel (38 in 26) and Dasun Shanaka (29 in 25) lifted them from the doldrums before Jofra Archer (32 in 15) – promoted to No.7 in an inspired decision – took RR to 205-8. Archer (4-0-17-3) then struck twice with his first nine balls. When Suryakumar Yadav (33 in 18) and Hardik Pandya (33 in 18) threatened to take the game away, Archer (4-0-17-3) returned to break the stand. Will Jacks’ 15-ball 34 was not enough as MI finished on 175-9 with Brijesh Sharma taking 4-0-26-2.

The result helped RR qualify for the playoffs, reducing the KKR-DC contest to an inconsequential one. There, KL Rahul (60 in 30) helped DC amass 203-5 even as Saurabh Dubey returned 4-0-28-2. Ajinkya Rahane (63 in 39) led KKR’s charge, but they ran out of steam after Kuldeep Yadav’s (4-0-29-3) triple-wicket blow. Some excellent bowling from Lungi Ngidi (3.4-0-27-3) and Mitchell Starc (3-0-26-2), both with the new ball and at the death, then helped DC bowl out KKR for 163.

Who were the top performers in MI vs RR and KKR vs DC?

Archer’s all-round performance made him the standout star of the first game. Rahul top-scored in the second, while the trio of Kuldeep, Ngidi, and Starc was magnificent with the ball.
