What were the talking points in RCB vs PBKS and DC vs RR?
RCB lost Jacob Bethell early before Virat Kohli (58 in 37), Devdutt Padikkal (45 in 25), Venkatesh Iyer (73* in 40), and Tim David (28 in 12) took them to 222-4 even as Harpreet Brar finished with 2-35.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2-38) and Rasikh Salam Dar (3-36) then reduced to PBKS to 19-3. Suryansh Shedge (35 in 22), Marcus Stoinis (37 in 25), and Shashank Singh (56 in 27) did well to ensure Punjab’s net run rate did not take a massive hit.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (46 in 21), Dhruv Jurel (53 in 40), and Riyan Parag (51 in 26) took RR to 161-2 in the 15th over. At that point they were eyeing a total in excess of 200, but Mitchell Starc (4-40) struck thrice in four balls to derail their progress. Lungi Ngidi (4-0-24-2) bowled brilliantly at the death, and RR could only manage 193-8.
DC openers, Abishek Porel (51 in 31) and KL Rahul (56 in 42) put on a 105-run opening stand off only 61 balls. Jofra Archer (2-35) and Brijesh Sharma (2-44) brought RR back into the match, but Axar Patel (34* in 18) stayed put to seal the game with four balls and five wickets in hand.
Who were the top performers in RCB vs PBKS and DC vs RR?
A rollicking half-century made Iyer the star of the first match. He found excellent support from the seamers, Bhuvneshwar and Rasikh. Starc’s burst changed the course of the second match before Porel’s fifty sealed the game.
