Sunrisers Hyderabad started off in familiar fashion with Abhishek Sharma (15 off 10) and Travis Head (61 off 28) going great guns to take the home side to 105-1 in 8.5 overs. But then came a massive collapse as the entire KKR bowling lineup combined to bowl them out for 165 in 19 overs. Varun Chakravarthy was the pick of the bowlers for his 3-36 while Sunil Narine (2-31) and Kartik Tyagi (2-30) chipped in as well. KKR then aced the chase, riding on a 84-run second-wicket partnership between Ajinkya Rahane (43 off 36) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (59 off 47) to win the game by seven wickets with 10 balls remaining.
Mohammed Siraj took two wickets in the first three balls of the match pegging PBKS back to 2-2. From there, they slipped to 47-5 in 8.4 overs before a 79-run partnership between Suyansh Shedge (57 off 29) and Marcus Stoinis (40 off 31) brought them back. PBKS eventually finished on 163-9 after Siraj (2-28), Kagiso Rabada (2-22 including a maiden), and Jason Holder (4-24) starred for GT with the ball. In the chase, Sai Sudharsan made a calm 57 off 41 balls before a middle order collapse required a cameo from Washington Sundar (40 not out off 23 balls) including a six off the penultimate ball to seal the game for GT.
