Kolkata Knight Riders are set to face Lucknow Super Giants at the Eden Gardens in IPL 2026 on Thursday, April 9. Here’s looking at the Kolkata weather forecast for the day.

Rain likely to stay away from KKR vs LSG IPL 2026 match

The Knight Riders’ last IPL 2026 match in Kolkata, on April 6, against the Punjab Kings, yielded no result after only 3.4 overs of play was possible due to rain. The city has since seen persistent evening rains since then, with more showers predicted for Thursday morning.

The Indian Meteorological Department had also issued a yellow alert for Kolkata, with thunderstorms and rain predicted. However, weather forecasts show that play might be possible after all, with the chances of rainfall decreasing towards the evening. The game is scheduled to start at 7.30pm local time, with the toss set to take place 30 minutes earlier at 7pm.

BBC Weather predicts that the chances of precipitation are 31 per cent at 6.30pm, which further reduces to 19 per cent at 7.30pm, the scheduled start time of the KKR vs LSG match. No rain is predicted between 8.30 to 11.30pm, meaning we could see a full game played at the Eden Gardens tonight.

Weather.com, meanwhile, predicts a 16 per cent chance of rain at 7pm, the scheduled time for the toss. The probability hovers between 17 and 20 per cent until 12am, by when the game should be finished.

Similarly, Accuweather also predicts little to no chance of rain, leaving us with the possibility of having a full match between Kolkata and Lucknow. There’s a 0 per cent probability of precipitation between 7 to 11pm on the platform, which should leave the cricket-going fans in the city happy and hopeful.
