Prince Yadav revealed how Virat Kohli’s advice helped him dismiss the Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter.

Prince Yadav takes down Virat Kohli to help LSG beat RCB

Kohli’s RCB and Prince’s Lucknow Super Giants faced off in IPL 2026 on Thursday (May 7) in Lucknow, where the seamer outfoxed the veteran batter with a delivery that pitched on length and nipped back in to uproot his off-stump. The wicket gave LSG a headstart in their defence of 213, which they eventually did, winning by nine runs (DLS).

After the game, Prince was quizzed whether he planned to bowl in the channel against Kohli. He went on to reveal that the former India captain had himself advised him to continue bowling on a good length if the ball was moving in the air after the two teams' game earlier in the ongoing IPL season.

"That was exactly the plan,” Prince said in the post-match interview. “In fact, after the last match, I was speaking with Virat bhaiya (elder brother) and he himself told me that as long as the ball is moving off the length, you shouldn’t abandon your length. That is exactly what I did, and I got the result in the form of his wicket."

Prince bowled two deliveries to Kohli in the game. The first angled in after pitching on length, which the batter blocked, before the next nipped back in enough to go through his defence. Kohli’s dismissal for a duck reduced RCB to 9-2 in the second over of their chase. The seamer also took the important wickets of Devdutt Padikkal and Jitesh Sharma to finish with 3-33 from his four overs.

Following Kohli’s dismissal, Rajat Patidar and Padikkal’s 95-run stand had brought Bengaluru back into the game, with the captain slamming 61 off 31. But his dismissal in the 12th over was RCB’s third wicket in just nine deliveries, sending them down to 112-5. Tim David kept their hopes alive with a 17-ball 40, but they still fell nine runs short.

Earlier in the game, Mitchell Marsh smashed his second IPL ton to score 111 off 56, whereas captain Rishabh Pant helped LSG finish strongly with a 10-ball 32 to take them to 209-3 in 19 overs amidst multiple rain breaks. RCB were handed a revised target of 213.
