Captain Ajinkya Rahane’s strike rate was questioned at the press conference after the last match, while Cameron Green, in his batting-only avatar, has not yet been able to live up to his enormous price tag so far. Both men have a point to prove this time, but perhaps not as much as Varun Chakravarthy, who has slid from the top-ranked bowler in the format to someone restricted to two overs – all in the space of a month and a half.
Punjab, on the other hand, have won both their games so far. Their top order had stuttered against some hostile bowling from the Gujarat Titans speedsters, but they seemed to have evened that out during their chase of 210 against Chennai Super Kings. Their devastating top six includes five Indians – of whom the focus will be on Priyansh Arya and captain Shreyas Iyer. Among the bowlers, Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal will be the key.
