Today's IPL 2026 matches: Who are the players to watch out for?
MI vs PBKS, Mumbai, 7.30pm local time
The big news for Mumbai is that Rohit Sharma has been reported to miss this game and the next one after picking up a hamstring injury in their previous match. If that is the case, it could mean an IPL debut for 22-year-old Vidarbha batter Danish Malewar, potentially a straight swap at the top of the order. The other route to go down would be promoting Naman Dhir to open, and playing an extra bowler like Deepak Chahar or Ashwani Kumar. Jasprit Bumrah will be the main draw otherwise; the India star has gone wicketless in the IPL so far.
Punjab, finalists last year, have looked just as good this season as well. They have a settled unit, and are the only unbeaten side in the competition so far. Captain Shreyas Iyer has hit two fifties in three games, and the opening combination of Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh remains as good as any in the league. Vijaykumar Vyshak has stepped up with the ball this season, filling in the void caused by Arshdeep Singh's dip in form; if the India quick can get back to his best, Punjab will look that much more dangerous.
