Today's IPL 2026 matches: Who are the players to watch out for?
RCB vs DC, Bengaluru, April 18, 3:30 pm
If anything, the defending champions look more dangerous than they did last season. Josh Hazlewood delivered a clinic in his first game back at the Chinnaswamy since winning the title, and will be looking to repeat that against Delhi on Saturday. With the bat, Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar have been the standouts while left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya and his bag of tricks will once again be a real draw on the bowling front.
Delhi have had a ten-day break since their last game, which was their second consecutive loss. Lungi Ngidi has starred with the ball for them, and a potential death-overs battle against the likes of Tim David and Patidar could be one of the standouts in this game. The top three of KL Rahul, Pathum Nissanka and Sameer Rizvi is not overly explosive, but should provide a steady churn of runs.
SRH vs CSK, Hyderabad, April 18, 7:30 pm
The biggest story from Hyderabad's last game was the emergence of uncapped quicks Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain, who took eight wickets between them as they beat Rajasthan. Both could well get a go again today. The opening pair of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma remain as watchable as ever and Nitish Kumar Reddy is starting to find his form with both bat and ball.
Chennai's back-to-back wins at home have buoyed their campaign somewhat – Noor Ahmad looked closer to his best in their most recent fixture, while Sanju Samson has scores of 48 and 115* in his last two games. Jamie Overton has been an important support player with bat and ball, but they will want captain Ruturaj Gaikwad to find his form with the bat sooner rather than later.
