Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter Salil Arora made his IPL debut in the ongoing edition: here’s everything you need to know about him.
Who is Salil Arora, the SRH wicketkeeper-batter?
Arora, the 23-year-old wicketkeeper-batter from Punjab, was signed by SRH at the IPL 2026 auction for INR 1.5 crore on the back of a superb Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy season. He scored 358 runs in the campaign at a strike-rate of nearly 200, with a hundred and a fifty, while also hitting the second-most sixes in the tournament with 28.
A defining knock of 125 off 45, where he completed his first-ever T20 ton in just 39 deliveries against eventual champions Jharkhand, who were led by interim SRH captain Ishan Kishan, came just four days before the auction in December last year. The middle-order batter followed up the 39-ball hundred with knocks of 22-ball 42 and 29-ball 50 in his next two appearances in the 2025/26 SMAT.
Arora made his T20 and first-class debuts in December 2024, notably hitting a hundred in his debut in the longer format. He has since played nine first-class matches in total, scoring 458 runs at 41.63, while he has 401 runs in 13 T20s at a strike-rate of 190.95. He has notably hit more sixes (32) in his young T20 career than fours (25).

Arora made his IPL debut in the IPL 2026 season opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru but scored just nine runs before a duck against Kolkata Knight Riders in his second appearance. He was subsequently dropped but returned for SRH’s fixture against Punjab Kings on April 11, where he was dismissed for nine again.
He returned to form in the next game, making a 13-ball 24 in a big win over the Rajasthan Royals. The knock gave him a longer rope, and he retained his spot for the crucial game against Chennai Super Kings in Hyderabad on April 18. Notably, in SRH's intra-squad games ahead of the season, he played knocks of 47(16), 56(26) and 81(33).
