Shahnawaz Dahani was taken for 31 runs in the final over of the innings by Towhid Hridoy during the 15th match of the Lanka Premier League 2026.
Dahani had a forgettable day at the office for Colombo Kaps in the game against Jaffna Kings on Tuesday, July 28. He registered the most expensive spell in the history of LPL, conceding 71 runs in his four-over spell.
The earlier record was held by Lahiru Kumara, who was taken for 63 runs back in November 2020 during the inaugural edition of the tournament, while playing for Dambulla Viiking against Jaffna Stallions.
Dahani began well, conceding only six in his first over, but things went wrong in the next over when the Jaffna openers, Kamil Mishara and Ibrahim Zadran, took him for 21 in the fourth over of the innings.
He returned at the death, in the 17th over, and things went further downhill. He bowled a 10-ball over, including three wides and a no-ball, and 13 runs in all. However, the final nail in the coffin was the last over of the innings, where Dahani was literally taken apart by an in-form Hridoy.

Dahani has not had a great stint for Dahani in LPL 2026 so far. He has only five wickets in four innings at an economy of 9.43.
Jaffna Kings beat Colombo Kaps by 19 runs
As for the match, the 31-run last over ended up costing Colombo Kaps the game as they fell short of the target by 19 runs. On the back of Ibrahim Zadran’s 95 and Hridoy’s unbeaten 31 off 8 deliveries, the Kings posted 202 runs in their 20 overs.
In response, the Colombo Kaps did really well to stay in the hunt for the most part before ending their innings at 183-9, succumbing to their third defeat in six matches this season.
