The sixth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL 2026) is all set to commence on July 17, with the final scheduled for August 8.
The opening match of the season will be played between the finalists of the previous edition (LPL 2024) - champions Jaffna Kings and runners-up Galle Gallants (previously Galle Marvels). The Lanka Premier League (LPL) is resuming this year after the 2025 edition was cancelled to allow Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) sufficient time to prepare venues for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
The Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo will host five matches from July 17 to 19, before the caravan moves to Dambulla for the next nine matches. Pallekele International Cricket Stadium is scheduled to host the remaining six games of the league stage before the competition returns to Colombo, this time at the R Premadasa Stadium, for the playoffs, starting August 5, with the final set for August 8. There is a reserve day as well for the summit clash, on August 9.
All the afternoon matches of the season will commence at 3pm local time (10:30am UK time, 3pm IST), while the evening fixtures are scheduled to get underway at 7:30pm local time (3pm UK time, 7:30pm IST). This edition of the LPL will also see the impact sub rule being implemented for the first time. Furthermore, teams are now required to include an under-23 player in their playing XI at all times, even after making an impact sub.
