Yuzvendra Chahal picked up a three-wicket haul in Northamptonshire’s 150-run win over Durham in a One-Day Cup match on Friday (August 15) at the Riverside ground in Durham.
Yuzvendra Chahal takes three wickets in win
Chahal got his first breakthrough in the 29th over of Durham’s 322-run chase. George Drissell, batting on 31 off 43, attempted a pull but top-edged a straightforward catch to Tim Robinson inside the off-side circle. The dismissal reduced Durham to 150-7.
Returning for his next over, Chahal struck twice in three balls to inflict further damage. First, he removed Paul Coughlin for 13, then dismissed Michael Killeen for a duck. Killeen fell softly, trying to slog a flighted delivery outside off, only to top-edge a catch to Luke Procter.

At 170-9, Durham could only add one more run before Nirvan Ramesh cleaned up No. 11 Archie Bailey for 1, sealing Northamptonshire’s dominant 150-run victory.
Northants' big win was set up by James Sales' 117 off 110 from No.3. Robinson (63) and Justin Broad (59) also played their part, helping the visitors to reach 321-8.
Chahal finished with 3-30 off six overs. The performance came exactly a year and a day after his only One-Day Cup five-wicket haul to date – a stunning 5-14 (including five maidens) on his tournament debut against Kent.
Returning to Northants for the current season, Chahal entered this match with modest returns: 1-69 vs Yorkshire and 2-54 vs Warwickshire.
Last year, Chahal had a fruitful County Championship campaign, finishing as Northants' highest wicket-taker with 19 wickets at an average of 21.10, including his career-best first-class figures of 9-99 against Derbyshire.
However, his average in the current season is significantly higher (46.00), having taken 12 wickets from three matches with best figures of 6-118, also against Derbyshire. Chahal also had a two-match stint with Kent in 2023, claiming nine wickets at 27.33.
