South Africa win clash of finger-spinners to clinch series-levelling triumph
Pakistan collapsed from 316-5 to 333 after Shan Masood won the toss and opted to bat at Rawalpindi. Having missed the first Test, Keshav Maharaj returned here to claim 7-102. In response, South Africa were 235-8 against debutant Asif Afridi’s record-breaking 6-79. Senuran Muthusamy then got a career-best 89 not out, while Kagiso Rabada blasted a career-best of 71 to take the tourists to 404.

The Pakistan response was led by Babar Azam (50), who got his first half-century in a home Test in nearly three years. Simon Harmer (6-50) routed Pakistan for 138, reaching the milestone of 1,000 first-class wickets in the process. South Africa took 75 balls to chase down the target of 68.
Updated WTC 2025-27 standings after 2nd PAK vs SA Test
This was the first series for both sides in the 2025-2027 WTC cycle. With one win apiece, they now have 12 points from two games – in other words, a PCT of 50. As a result, Pakistan dropped behind to and South Africa rose to the joint fourth place. This shift of rank meant that Sri Lanka and India rose by one place, while England and Bangladesh dropped by one.
New Zealand remain the only side yet to play a Test match in this cycle.
