Karachi Kings defeated Peshawar Zalmi in the latest Pakistan Super League match in Rawalpindi on Saturday (May 17). Here is the updated PSL 2025 points table, along with the net run rate.
Unlike the IPL, a full PSL match could happen after the tournament’s resumption in the aftermath of the India-Pakistan military conflict. Batting first, Karachi Kings dealt with an early blow, losing Ben McDermott for a duck off the very first ball. Then, captain David Warner (86 off 50 balls) and James Vince (72 off 42) put on a show, stitching an 89-ball 162-run stand, the joint-second highest partnership in the PSL. After the mammoth stand, KK lost three wickets for just five runs, slipping to 167-4 in 16.1 overs.
Khushdil Shah (43 not out off 15) and Mohammad Nabi (26 off 10) helped KK score 70 runs in the last 3.5 overs, propelling their team to 237-4.

PZ's response was underscored by the effort of their captain, Babar Azam, who struck 94 off 49. But that wasn't enough as the required run rate kept climbing with 52 needed off the last two overs. PZ finished at 214-5, succumbing to a 23-run loss. While Abbas Afridi took 2-48, Hassan Ali (1-30) was the pick of the KK bowlers in the high-scoring match.

With that win, Karachi Kings became the second team after Quetta Gladiators to qualify for the playoffs. Only a point separates the two sides. Peshawar Zalmi, meanwhile, entered the match, needing to win both their games to guarantee themselves a playoff spot. The loss has landed a significant blow to their campaign, which is now hanging by a thread. Qualification is no longer in their own hands.
