Quetta Gladiators beat Islamabad United in a nail-biting match on Saturday (May 3). Here's what the PSL 2025 points table looks like after that result.
Entering the match, Islamabad United made six changes, most notably captain Shadab Khan, who missed out due to injury. Haider Ali replaced him in the lineup, with Salman Ali Agha leading the side.
Asked to bat first, the opening duo of Shahibzada Farhan and Kyle Mayers put 58 on the board in 36 balls for IU. While Mayers perished for 22 off 17 balls, in-form Farhan struck a 24-ball 39. The batting side soon suffered a collapse, losing half of their line-up for 91 runs, with Faheem Ashraf (4-25 off three overs) being QG’s wrecker-in-chief. Mohammad Nawaz’s unbeaten 34 off 49 balls helped Islamabad United scramble to 157-9.
Defending the meagre score, IU’s bowlers kept them in the hunt. However, the thorn in the flesh was Hassan Nawaz, who took the match down to the wire with a vital fifty. With 15 required off the last over, Nawaz hit the fourth ball for a six, bringing down the equation to seven from three. Another six off the penultimate delivery saw QG win by two wickets. Nawaz finished unbeaten on 64 off 41 balls and was adjudged the Player of the Match.
